Acrylic resins are frequently referred to as the highest quality of resins for coating. Similar to alkyd resins, choice of monomers and reaction engineering lead to the resin’s wide application: thermoplastic (self-drying) and thermosetting, either two-components systems with epoxy and isocyanate cure or one-component systems with melamine cure. It is produced using wide-range of monomers by means of radical addition polymerization, where proper reaction manipulation would yield characteristics such as:
Excellent color and gloss retention
Mechanically and chemically rigid and durable film
