Amino resins are excellent crosslinkers that can be combined with polyester, alkyd, and acrylic resins. These resins are produced with amino compounds and formaldehyde. At Platinum, we develop four major categories: Urea Formaldehyde (UF), Urea Melamine Formaldehyde (UMF), Melamine Formaldehyde (MF), and Benzoguanamine Formaldehyde (BF). These amino resins undergo crosslinking reactions with with polyester, alkyd, and acrylic resins to give very durable and chemically-resistant film, although a lot of the final characteristics of the film will also depend on the crosslinkers. Generally, properly-engineered melamine resins will offer the following properties:
Broad range temperature usage
Excellent gloss improvement
Excellent adhesion
Excellent weatherability
Outstanding chemical resistance and interlayer adhesion
