What is Thermoplastic Resin?

Thermoplastic resins are a composite which, when heated, melts or turns into a liquid. If cooled it will harden. But does not change the structure of the components. It is so easy to recycle. Generally, in its implementation, thermoplastics do not require other components to strengthen their shape. Unlike thermosets which usually need other fibers for modification. As we know polymers are difficult to decompose by bacteria. so that many environmentalists are campaigning related to recycling.

Plastic has more than 40 types. By changing different molecular factors of the plastic, each type of plastic can have different variations in properties. Of course, without realizing it, we often encounter thermoplastics anywhare. In Indonesia, there are many products that use thermoplastic resins composite as raw materials, such as PVC pipes, kitchen utensils, and polyethylene as plastic bags.

Pure plastic is essentially insoluble in water and non-toxic. But many addictive substances as a mixture of plastics, such as colorants, stabilizers, and reinforcements, can be toxic and damaging to the environment. Therefore, mineral water with plastic bottles will expire in a certain time. It’s not the expired water but the bottle.
